Washington Wizards Roster Report 2009-10-18

Washington Wizards Roster Report 2009-10-18ANALYZING STARTERS:

G DeShawn Stevenson was a liability before he was lost for the season. He could be relegated to a reserve position and replaced in the lineup by Randy Foye.

G Gilbert Arenas was a top-10 talent before his knee became problematic. Team sources say he is 100 percent recovered.

F Caron Butler is always good for 20 points and some tough defense. He is in his prime and could return to All-Star level.

F Antawn Jamison has been the team's most consistent player for years. Despite his advancing age, the Wizards expect no falloff.

C Brendan Haywood is underrated as a defender. He directs the defense and has gotten better at challenging shots at the rim.

ANALYZING KEY RESERVES:

F Mike Miller should flourish playing alongside players like Arenas, Jamison and Butler.

G Randy Foye can player either guard spot. Look for him in the starting lineup or to play starting minutes early on.

F Andray Blatche is talented and smooth. After averaging double-figures last season he must be a consistent contributor nightly.

G Nick Young has explosive athletic ability. He has to pick up the team's offensive schemes quickly.

MEDICAL WATCH:

F Antawn Jamison has a sprained right shoulder. He will skip the rest of the pre-season and is expected to be ready for the season opener Oct. 27 (at Dallas).
