Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2009-04-08
Wizards team president Ernie Grunfeld has been catching some heat for sticking with the core of Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison for quite some time now.

But after a nice win over the Cavaliers that ended Cleveland's 13-game winning streak on Thursday, Grunfeld was out front talking up what the future might look like next season.

"Everybody has to be put in the right situation, and that wasn't the case this year," Grunfeld told the Washington Times. "But (Thursday) night was an indication that, when everybody's in their proper roles, we can be a very competitive team."

Added Wizards interim coach Ed Tapscott, "We hope that this will give people a bit of a preview of what we think we will be next year. This is what we thought we would be this year. It's nice to be able to capture some of that here at the end."

HEAT 118, WIZARDS 104: The Wizards had no answer for the Heat's hot shooting in the fourth quarter, when Miami made eight of 13 from 3-point range on a night when Washington went 14-for-32 from long range.

Caron Butler led the Wizards with 27 points, Antawn Jamison added 23 and Brendan Haywood finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Dwyane Wade led six Miami players in double digits, finishing with a game-high 33.
