Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2009-03-14

Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2009-03-14
The Wizards went into Friday's home game against Orlando knowing that this was one of the three most important games remaining on the schedule.

Why? Because the Wizards want to avoid becoming the first team in league history to fail to win a game in their division.

Orlando came into Friday night's game having won all three meetings this season with Washington. The only two games remaining beyond that for the Wizards are games with Charlotte and Miami.

"Nobody wants to go through a season without winning a single division game," Wizards guard Mike James said. "We're not really thinking about it but we know it's there. The best thing we can do is just approach each game the same way we have approached every game. We're going to play them all hard and hope for the best. But no, we don't want to attach that to this season."

MAGIC 112, WIZARDS 103: Dwight Howard has had his way against the Wizards this season and things were no different Friday as Howard scored 18 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, handed out a career-high seven assists and blocked five shots.

"He controlled the game and he set the tone," Wizards interim coach Ed Tapscott said. "But we fought hard (Friday night). We didn't lose this one because of lack of effort."

Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 36 points.
