Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2009-02-11

Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2009-02-11
While clearly there is no salvaging this season of horrors in Washington, the Wizards still want to continue evaluating what they have on the roster.

One player they really want to see show improvement this season, Andray Blatche, continues to be unavailable to them. Blatche has now missed eight straight games after a collision with Shaquille O'Neal last month, but all signs are that Blatche will be back following the All-Star break.

Not known for his work ethic -- a pet peeve of everyone in the front office -- Blatche attempted to come back Sunday, testing his knee before the Wizards lost at home to the Pacers. He tested the knee again Tuesday versus the Hawks but has found out that his knee is still not ready.

"I've been testing it the last few days because I want to get back out there," Blatche said. "But it's just not ready yet. I'll be ready to get back after the break. I have to think that's the case but we'll see."

HAWKS 111, WIZARDS 90: The Wizards were out of this one early, falling behind 9-1 in the first quarter in a game in which they would never hold a lead.

The Wizards trailed by as many as 22 points in the second quarter. Caron Butler led the Wizards with 22 points and eight rebounds.
