Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2009-02-04
The Wizards are in the process of playing their longest home stand of the season, which should be a good thing, right?

"We've been on the road a lot lately so it's going to be good to get back home, stay in our beds and eat our own food for a few days. It will be good," Wizards interim coach Ed Tapscott said.

The Wizards opened the stand with an easy win against an awful Clippers team but Monday they tried -- and failed -- to string together just their second winning streak of the season against lowly Memphis. The final three games of the stretch are against New Jersey, Denver and Indiana.

The Wizards can't afford to take this portion of the schedule for granted, as they learned Monday.

"How could we do that?" Tapscott said. "We aren't good enough to overlook anybody. And we've got some decent teams coming in here. Shoot, we aren't good enough to overlook anyone in this league."

GRIZZLIES 113, WIZARDS 97: The Grizzlies came to Washington and snapped a 12-game losing streak with a victory over the Wizards.

The Grizzlies made almost 50 percent of their field-goal tries, committed just eight turnovers and got a game-high 33 points from rookie O.J. Mayo.

Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 29 points and 13 rebounds.
