Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2009-01-25
January is going to come and go, and the Wizards will not see Gilbert Arenas return to the team this month, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

In fact, is starting to look as though Arenas might not be back this season. At least one source in the organization said that the star guard is not going to come back until he is 100 percent healthy.

Arenas had a third surgery on his left knee in September.

As it stands now, Arenas is nowhere near being 100 percent as the season reaches the midpoint. Factor in that the Wizards' season is already a lost cause and it really doesn't make sense for the player whom the team invested $116 million in to make an appearance this year.

BLAZERS 100, WIZARDS 87: It didn't take the Wizards long to dig their own grave in Saturday. Washington committed a ghastly 14 turnovers by halftime and made just 35 percent of its field goals before intermission, the perfect remedy for a beating on the road.

In the third quarter, the Blazers built their lead to 66-44, and the Wizards, playing in their final game of their first Western road swing, never posed a threat.

Caron Butler led the Wizards, who finished 1-3 on the trip, with 31 points and 10 rebounds.
