Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2009-01-01

Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2009-01-01
It was nice to see the Wizards end their eight-game losing streak earlier this month, but after a loss to New Orleans on Wednesday, don't look for the Wizards to begin a new streak any time soon.

Beginning with a game Friday in Boston the next three Washington foes are the Celtics, Cleveland at home on Sunday and at Orlando on Jan. 7.

The Wizards have lost seven games in a row against Eastern Conference foes, so in a little over a week now, that streak should be at 10 games.

Interestingly enough, the Wizards have done fairly well against Western Conference teams. Washington is 4-4 against the West this season.

HORNETS 97, WIZARDS 85: After upsetting the Houston Rockets on Monday thanks partially to sub-par games by Houston superstars Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, the Wizards didn't have any such luck against Chris Paul in New Orleans.

Paul proved to be too much for the Wizards. Guarded by one-time teammate Mike James, Paul dropped a triple-double -- his third of the season -- to carry the Hornets to victory.

Paul helped end the Wizards two-game winning streak with 15 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds.

Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 22 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
