Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2008-12-28
Getting Gilbert Arenas back in the lineup is about the only thing that could resuscitate interest in the Wizards' 2008-09 campaign.

The trouble is that it looks more and more likely every day that Arenas won't be back when the team promised he would return from his latest knee surgery.

The Wizards had hoped that Arenas, who underwent a third knee surgery just prior to training camp, would be nearly ready to return to the court in early January.

But Arenas has yet to practice with the team. In fact, he hasn't even been cleared for physical contact yet.

That said, don't expect Arenas to be back in uniform now until sometime in late January, perhaps even later.

WIZARDS 104, THUNDER 95: Despite playing without the services of their leading scorer, Caron Butler, the Wizards ended their eight-game losing streak with a victory against the only team in the league with a worse record than theirs.

Antawn Jamison matched his season high with 29 points, Andray Blatche finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and three steals, and Mike James handed out a season-high 11 assists to lead the Wizards.

Butler missed the game with a sprained ankle. In his place, the Wizards started Nick Young at one forward spot. Young finished with 12 points.
