Washington Wizards Getting Inside 2008-12-27
One luxury that Wizards interim coach Ed Tapscott has is that his job in this lost season will be to find out which players can and can't play.

To that end, look for Tapscott to stick with second-year forward Dominic McGuire in the starting lineup for a bit.

McGuire has proven to be a capable rebounder and defender. But the Wizards envisioned him as a point forward who can handle some of the ball-handling responsibilities and even set the offense.

"He's got some nice skills that he hasn't had the chance to exhibit previously, so we're going to take a look at him and get a better idea of how he can contribute to the team," Tapscott said. "This is a great opportunity for him."

The next guy the team wants to see more of is Javaris Crittenton, who should start receiving more minutes shortly.

CAVALIERS 93, WIZARDS 89: Washington squandered an opportunity to upset powerful Cleveland on Thursday, and as usual, the Wizards got in their own way.

Leading 89-82 with less than two minutes remaining, the Wizards failed to score on their next five possessions on the way to losing their eighth straight game.

Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 28 points. Surprising new addition Mike James went for 26.

The Wizards will look to end their skid on Saturday when they host Oklahoma City.
